Featured Training Pathway
Vascular Ultrasound Training
Focused, clinically relevant education for sonographers and healthcare professionals working in the venous field.
Course Overview
This vascular ultrasound training pathway is designed to provide focused, clinically relevant education for sonographers and healthcare professionals working in the venous field. Built around practical vascular concepts and real-world application, the course supports learners who want a stronger understanding of venous anatomy, venous disease, duplex assessment, reflux evaluation, treatment-related concepts, and post-procedural follow-up. Rather than presenting vascular ultrasound as theory alone, this pathway is designed to connect structured learning with day-to-day clinical relevance.
Who This Course Is For
This course is designed for sonographers, advanced practice providers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals working in the venous field who want to strengthen their understanding of venous ultrasound, reflux assessment, venous disease, and treatment-related concepts.
What You Will Learn
Learners will build a stronger foundation in the venous system and the practical use of ultrasound in venous care. By the end of this pathway, participants will have more confidence in understanding venous anatomy and hemodynamics, identifying patency and thrombus-related findings, evaluating chronic venous insufficiency, applying reflux mapping concepts, understanding treatment approaches, and recognizing the role of ultrasound in post-interventional assessment.
Key Topic Areas
Venous Foundations
Deep venous anatomy, superficial venous anatomy, venous hemodynamics, and normal venous valve function.
Patency and Duplex Assessment
Mechanism of thrombosis, lower extremity venous duplex for patency, thrombus descriptors, imaging techniques, protocol, and direction of flow.
Insufficiency and Reflux Evaluation
Chronic venous insufficiency, reflux mapping, venous insufficiency duplex, and non-saphenous reflux concepts.
Treatment and Follow-Up
Thermal and non-thermal ablation concepts, post-interventional assessment, and nonsurgical management of chronic venous insufficiency.
Extended Venous Topics
Pelvic venous disorders, upper extremity venous studies, lymphedema and phlebolymphedema, and related vascular topics.
Format
This pathway is designed to combine structured online learning with practical hands-on development. The online portion supports focused study across key venous topics, while hands-on opportunities are intended to strengthen scanning technique, workflow, and clinical application. Additional workshop dates, delivery details, and future training opportunities will be shared as they become available.
Professional Development / RPhS
This pathway may also support learners who are building toward deeper professional development in the venous field, including future preparation related to the RPhS credential. It is presented as a professional development direction and learning pathway rather than as an exam guarantee.
